Just before her 54th birthday, my vibrant and healthy mom Katie was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. For 13 years—now going on 14—she has lived and changed with the disease. I was only 28 at the time, and now at 42, this experience has transformed my life in ways I still struggle to make sense of. Nature permeates our connection, while time blankets it like a fog.
