Black Hills

The Black Hills of western South Dakota became my home at the beginning of 2008. It's a place of a lot of in-betweens. Caught somewhere between the edge of the West and the sprawling prairie, the Black Hills and the surrounding area offer something very subtle and beautiful. There is a sense of yesterday being forever ago and tomorrow slowly approaching without many things changing between the dusk and dawn. With so much land seemingly untouched, it's not hard to imagine three generations ago looking out over the same sprawling landscape and living the lives of the people here now.
